About the AIR2 Temporary Exhibition

AIR is a project of the City of Roanoke’s Percent for Art Program, established to provide public art in city neighborhoods and public places to reflect the community’s vibrancy and heritage.

Since 2002 the City of Roanoke has designated 1 percent of funds for certain capital projects to purchase or display art in the city. The program is overseen by the 15-member Council-appointed Roanoke Arts Commission. The public art program is guided by Art for Everyone (PDF), the city’s first public art plan adopted by City Council in 2006.

This is the second 18-month temporary installation in the AIR program. For more information on the City of Roanoke's Public Art Program, visit the links below, or pick up the Public Art Catalog for a guide to the the City's collection of nearly 100 works by many of the region's best artists.
